This week we kicked off the first of three consecutive weeks of Camino Signature programming with Wildflower Rising!
Not only did the girls enjoy our weekly staples, but we were lucky enough to be joined by a few outside organizations who donated their time to provide some extra fun and even some financial education!
To close out the edition, I am also going to share how your group can experience Camino too.
For the majority of the year we are hosting retreat groups, and I wanted to bring you up to speed while there are still dates available.
There’s a lot to cover, so let’s dive in!
Wildflower Rising
The girls spent their days rotating through the Camino staples:
- sports
- arts and crafts
- life on the farm
- teamwork
They also went on the Hayride Farm Tour with our farm manager and enjoyed our animal-assisted therapy as well.
We also had a handful of outside organizations join us for some special events and activities this week!
Before highlighting the organizations who donated their time, we wanted to speak about the highlight of our week (sent to the parents in our Thursday evening recap).
We started the morning with something especially meaningful—a morning devotion that was actually requested by the girls. We were so impressed and touched when they asked for time to express their gratitude to God for the incredible week they've had. It was a beautiful moment and a true testament to the wonderful job all of you are doing in raising such thoughtful, kind-hearted young women.
It was also so nice hearing how many girls treasured the new friendships they made this week!
Choreographed Dance with Hype Dance
On Tuesday, Hype Dance donated their time to teach the girls a fully choreographed dance, and they performed it in a recital for the whole camp.
You can watch the girls in action in this week's recap video below!
Face Masks and Pajamas!
On Wednesday, the girls enjoyed spa and movie night where they were pampered with facial masks and popcorn!
The girls will also be taking home nail polish and other goodies courtesy of Olive and June.
Intro to Ballet
A dancer with San Diego Ballet Company led an introduction to ballet on Thursday morning.
Citizens Bank Teaching Financial Literacy
On Thursday afternoon, a representative from Citizens Bank led an introduction to financial literacy.
The girls asked thoughtful questions, participated enthusiastically, and may just come home inspired to start saving!
Weekly Highlight Reel
Bring Your Group to Camino
Summer camp is only part of the story here.
From September through May, Camino Farms hosts retreat groups from across the region. Our fall is filling quickly, with nearly every October weekend already spoken for, though there is some availability in September and November.
Groups have also started booking in the new year, but we still have some openings if you’d like to join us.
As for who we serve, we pride ourselves on being a sanctuary for everyone. And so far we’ve hosted a wide array of groups, including but not limited to:
- High school retreats, including Kairos
- Alumni groups reconnecting for a weekend
- Mothers' retreats hosted by school communities
- Nonprofit staff retreats, including an international organization spending four days on the farm
- Corporate team and staff retreats
And we’re excited for that list to keep growing!
We offer two, three, and four-day retreat options, on weekends or during the week. Groups run their own programming while we provide the spaces and the food, adapted to whatever your group needs.
With enough planning, we can provide concierge options on which amenities you would like, including time with the animals at our Animal-Assisted Therapy Barn.
A few notes:
- We can house up to 96 overnight guests in our bunkhouses
- Our sweet spot is groups of 30 or more staying overnight, though smaller groups are welcome to rent out the entire property for a more private experience
- For those interested in a single-day retreat, we can accommodate up to 150 guests for the day
If you lead a school, parish, nonprofit, or team that could use a few days away, we would love to talk.
Or simply reply to this email and we'll set up a time for you to come tour the property.
Final Thoughts
It’s been a pleasure hosting the girls this week.
They brought so much kindness, laughter, and friendship to the farm. We are incredibly grateful for each one of them.
On Monday, we kick off Camino Belong Week, our signature program for adults with disabilities.
This week is especially meaningful to our family.
We're excited to share it with you next Friday!
Have a great weekend,
Katrina
